What is hot foil printing?

Quite simply, it is coloured foil transferred onto an item by using heat and pressure. Metal Plates or Type (Metal letters) are used to transfer the information onto a product.  Type can be used for printing simple text, in horizontal lines, whilst a 'Plate' (also known as a 'Block') is used for printing unusual text, logos and designs.



What products can I print onto?

Utilising the hot foil printing process, you can print onto a wide range of flat surfaces; items such as:-

* Pens & Pencils (Flat sided only)
* Key Fobs, Bookmarkers and Coasters
* Business Cards (Paper and Plastic)
* Stationery
* Wedding & Greeting Cards / Ribbons

What products can I not print onto?

With hot foil printing, the product needs to 'give' and must also be flat. Therefore, hot foil printing is not generally suitable for printing onto round pens, golf balls, lighters etc. There are, however, some exception to this rule but it often involves the use of very expensive 'curved' silicon printing plates. For most beginners, this is often prohibitive.

For these types of surfaces, we would recommend the 'Pad Printing' process. A Pad Printing machine is included in our 'Package Number 2'. Further details on pad printing can also be found by logging onto our separate website at:-

All our hot foil printing machines are brand new. We do not sell second-hand machines as we seldom get any in! This is perhaps a testament that our customers are using their machines profitably and do not see the need to resell them back to us.

We also stay clear of other brands of second-hand hot foil printing machines as it is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain spare parts for other makes of machines. This is because the companies that did use to make other brands of hot foil printing machines in the UK no longer make them and thus spare parts are difficult to get hold of.

For these reasons, we would suggest steering clear of second-hand machines (Whether private or through trade) as with new machines you can be assured of  warranty and the fact this it will be new and thus is likely to give you many years of trouble-free service.

This is a frequently asked question and the answer really depends on a number of factors such as;

The profit margins produced by hot foil printing are excellent and mark-ups of between 100-200% are not uncommon as can be seen in the table below.

Not satisfied with what was available on the market some 20 years ago, Creative Printers commissioned a local engineering company to develop a industrial-grade table-top hot foil printing machines which would be compact yet robust at the same time.  The "DUT-21" was born.

Very few people are indeed aware of how the machine became to be known as the DUT-21, and it is still a mystery to this date as to the origination of this rather unusual, yet highly respectable brand name.

When you ask anyone in the hot foil printing machine industry about quality hot foil printing machines, the name DUT-21 pops up time and time again in admiration.
